How to organize travel photos on iPhone

Step by step

Make one album per trip in Photos
Select the photos, tap the more button and choose Add to Album. It works, but you pick photos one by one.
Search by place
In the Photos search, type the name of the city or country to see the photos taken there.
Separate trips automatically
In Backtrack, save your city in Where I live and tap Automatic trip discovery: the app finds the periods away from home and builds each trip. Or tap Choose dates manually.
Browse by year
On the home screen, trips are grouped by year with a cover, city, dates and number of days. Search finds a trip by name.
Pick the cover and the animation photos
Change the cover of any trip and choose which photos of each stop go into the animation and the video.

Originals stay untouched: Backtrack does not move, edit or delete photos in the Photos app. Only the videos you export are saved to your library.
Trips with several cities: Different cities on consecutive days stay in the same trip, and the card shows the other destinations.
What is left out: Photos without a location, screenshots and screen recordings are not added to trips.
